Last full park day

Up early, and made it to Magic Kingdom for rope drop. For those of you who haven't been to Disney, this is the park's daily opening ceremony. For those who have, you'll understand why I wanted to do it at least once! We had a good mooch about while it was still relatively quiet, and enjoyed a drink from the newly reopened Main Street Bakery, which is now a heavily disguised Starbucks. Headed up for the last corner of Fantasyland, including Storybook Circus that we'd missed last time, and I had a ride on Prince Charming's carousel. We also took a trip Under the Sea, with Ariel, and a trip round the park on the Walt Disney World Railroad. As it was one of the hottest days so far, we headed back out the midday sun for a siesta, and headed back to Hollywood Studios once it had cooled a bit. This time, we headed for Star Tours, which is a Star Wars themed 3D simulator. Loved it! Much as we loved Despicable Me, I think the designers of the 3D could still pick up tips!

On the home straight.

Can't believe it's our last few days here! Saturday, as planned, was back to EPCOT. We mooched mainly round Future World, including Living with The Land and Spaceship Earth. We also caught the other half of the World Showcase that we skipped due to the rain. Recharged back at the flat, and went back in the evening for Illuminations: Reflections on Earth. Stunning show technically, but it didn't grab our imaginations in the same way was Wishes or Fantasmic. Of the three shows, I think we both prefer fantasmic. Sunday was a lazy day, most things were packed as it was Fathers Day, but we did fit in a game of mini golf. Well, you're in Florida, some things just have to be done! In the evening, we were lucky enough to watch one of the most fantastic electrical storms we've ever seen. The sky was aglow! Now, we could get annoyed that the weather is disrupting plans, but honestly it was worth watching and enjoying - from the comfort of our enclosed balcony, anyway! Mond

More Disney!

Headed back to the Animal Kingdom yesterday morning, planning to look round Asia and Dinoland, the two areas we didn't get round last time. First stop, though, was guest relations, where we extended our tickets from two week to three, which means we can do parks right up till the morning we fly home! Lunch was a burger at the hip joint in Dinoland, Restaurantosaurus, where Chris discovered again just how friendly the cast members are. He took a seat while I queued, and I found him chatting away to the busboy, who had wandered over to say hi when he saw him sitting apparently alone! After a pitstop back at the flat, for food and a shower, we headed off to Hollywood Studios, where the main aim was to see Fantasmic. This is a live show, with lights, fireworks and water, and it was totally out of this world. Today, weather permitting, we're off back to EPCOT.

Lazy day

Last night, we headed back to the Magic Kingdom in time to watch the fireworks. Oh, wow! That has to be the the most amazing fireworks display I have ever seen! Chris is looking and feeling a lot better today, but we decided to take things easy today, and had a mooch at the strip malls along the 192 highway, which is the main east/west road where we are. In the evening, we decided to explore Disney's Boardwalk. Similar to Downtown Disney, in that it's an entertainment area with shops and restaurants, it also gave us a glimpse of the Boardwalk resort. Based on a turn of the century Coney island, apparently, it looks amazing and has a wonderfully calm and chilled out vibe. Caught a glimpse of the EPCOT fireworks from across the lake - that's on tomorrow's to-do list!

Scooters, baseball and doctors

So, Sunday, lazy day. Chris hired a scooter for the rest of the trip, which makes life so much easier. We mooched about and explored the area, and spent the evening at Downtown Disney, which is a great place to hang out and chill. Monday, was Universal, and to be honest, we both preferred Disney. Not that there's anything wrong with Universal, but Disney just feels better. We're going back later in the week to do Islands of Adventure. On the way home, we stopped back at DTD, since the weather was better, and the hot air balloon was running. Fab views, and I can tick that off the bucket list! The evening was spent at one of the outlet malls - think Freeport on steroids! Tuesday was Tampa, where we went to the Dali museum, and the Tampa Bay Rays v Boston Red Sox match. Home team won, yay! During the day, Chris started complaining about the skin round his eyes feeling sore and puffy. Those of you on my twitter feed or his facebook may have seen the pic of how he looked when

When it's too wet for Ducks!

Woke up this morning to the best weather since we arrived so, armed with sunscreen and hats, we headed for The Big One - The Magic Kingdom. Wow! That's all I can say for first impressions! When we parked up, we decided to get the ferry across to the park, rather than the monorail, and I was treated to our first peek at Cinderella's castle! After EPCOT, Chris decided to get a chair from the outset, and went for one of the electric scooters, which he decided was well worth the money. After wandering along Main Street USA, and chatting to the Mayor, we realised we were just in time for the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It Street Party.  Ever seen a crab and a candelabra boogieing on down? Come to Disney! Totally unexpected, and a great start to the day! Next stop, Adventureland, and the Jungle Cruise, with a tour guide who had a fab line in puns! Then, onto Aladdin's Flying Carpets, followed by the Pirates of the Carribean ride. Out through the mandatory gift shop, and on

It's not all about the parks

Woke up Thursday morning, and were greeted by Andrea. Tropical storm Andrea, that is. So our plans are nothing if not flexible, and we abandoned any idea of any outdoor activities and headed for the undercover Florida Mall! Well, shopping was always on the agenda! Got a few odds and ends, but mainly it was mooching and people watching. By mid afternoon the promised all day rain was starting to break, so we took the scenic route home, and checked out International Drive. Think Blackpool on steroids! It's also home to Universal Studios, where we'll be heading next week. After dinner, and since the rain was still off, we decided to risk Hollywood Studios. It was worth it! With Magic Kingdom still to do, I think I would say it's my favourite park so far! Some of the attractions, such as the Studio Backlot tour, were closed due to the earlier weather, but I loved the Movie ride, and as for Midway Mania, well we used Chris's guest assistance card to cut a 90 min queue down
